Dance Business Bootcamp is a full-day workshop for independent artists, choreographers, and small-budget dance groups looking to accelerate their operations. The session is facilitated by Fractured Atlas, a national organization that empowers artists to succeed as entrepreneurs, in collaboration with Dance/USA.
This two-part workshop will take place on Friday, June 9, 2017 at ArtsKC during the 2017 Dance/USA Annual Conference in Kansas, MO from 9am- 12pm and 1:30pm- 3pm.
Dance Business Bootcamp is provided FREE to all registered Conference attendees and to members of the Kansas City dance community - dancers, choreographers, teachers, artistic directors, educators, administrators, and dance collaborators - who reside in the Metropolitan Kansas City area including: Jackson, Clay, and Platte, MO; and Douglas, Johnson, and Wyandotte, KS.

The Workshop
Jump start your creative practice with this hands-on co-learning experience focused on building, leading, and managing a small dance business. All dancemakers are welcome in this space regardless of your incorporation status (for-profit, nonprofit, fiscally sponsored, individual, etc.).
Whether you're an established independent artist, you've just started a company, or you're somewhere in between, managing the intricacies of both the business and creative side of a dance business is challenging. Join other entrepreneurial dancemakers for this special session where you'll learn ways to tackle core business challenges.
Fractured Atlas will facilitate Dance Business Bootcamp, a collaborative and interactive learning workshop designed to teach participants the fundamental skills needed to manage their creative businesses. Learning topics may include developing a mission statement, theory of change, budgeting, fundraising, local audience cultivation, strategic partnerships, and more. Each topic will include an introduction presentation or lesson, reflection time, and breakout discussion groups.
Schedule
9am – 12pm | Session I
12pm – 1:30pm | Lunch and Open Discussion with Facilitators (Boxed lunches will be provided.)
1:30pm – 3pm | Session II
The formal sessions of Bootcamp conclude at 3:00 PM.
3pm – 5pm | Open Space for Dialogue and Q&A with Facilitators

About the Facilitators
Fractured Atlas facilitators Lisa Niedermeyer, Director of Client Development, and Courtney Harge, Member Advisor, will lead the workshop. Fractured Atlas is a national organization that empowers artists to succeed as entrepreneurs. Registration
The 2017 Dance Business Bootcamp requires a reservation; complete the RSVP form here by May 5th. Registration is available for FREE to members of the Kansas City dance community and all Conference attendees. If you are already registered for the full Annual Conference or a day pass on Friday, June 9, you are eligible to attend the Bootcamp at no additional cost to your registration fee. If you are only attending the Dance Business Bootcamp, you will be permitted to only attend Bootcamp related activities.
